Sketch challenge

I created the following card for a sketch challenge for the UDI blog. I was glad to have a chance to finally use products from the new catalog. I used the new stamp set “Dreams du Jour” along with Bella Rose Designer Series Paper (DSP) and one of the new In Colors. These all coordinate very well, which is one of the many great things Stampin’ Up! is popular for.
Stamp set: Dreams du Jour
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Riding Hood Red, Bella Rose DSP
Ink: Riding Hood Red Classic Ink
Accessories: scissors, paper trimmer, dimensionals, SNAIL, glue dots.

This week’s card sketch:

I was inspired by another UDI member, Andrea Walford and her tutorial on paper piecing with the Bell Rose designer paper. This link will take you to her tutorial: http://andreawalford.com/?p=628

The cutting was tedious and took a lot of time, but I think the look you get is worth the time and effort. You can’t tell very well by the picture, but the rose has four layers, and each of the leaves, rosebuds and little flowers have two layers.

I hope you have been inspired to try this sketch yourself. Please post a link in the comment section of this post if you create something with this sketch. Have fun stampin’ and creatin’!
