Window Sheet Class

I recently taught a class showcasing our window sheets (otherwise known as acetate). Some of the products used in the following projects are now discontinued, but we have plenty of new products that would work just as well.

We created two cards and one 3D project:

Stamp set: Eastern Blooms, Warm Words

Ink: Black StazOn ink, White StazOn
Accessories: 1/8” circle punch, scallop edge punch, Big Shot, Beautiful Butterflies Bigz die, clear rhinestone brads, Stampin’ Pastels, sponge dauber, SNAIL adhesive, sticky strip, paper cutter, Stamp-a-ma-jig

I used the layout of a card sample I saw in the new 2009-2010 Idea Book & Catalog, on page 197.

I was inspired by Lauren Meader’s blog post about creating her own embellishments and I used her Marvelous Poppin' Acetate tutorial to create my butterfly. I was amazed at how well this technique works. You would think the ink would smear since the pastels are applied to the wet ink, but it doesn’t smear. If you don’t have White StazOn ink, I would think VersaMark ink would work just as well. I haven’t tried it with VersaMark though so I can’t guarantee the results. If you experiment with it, I would love to know how it turned out for you.

I used the Acetate Box tutorial on Splitcoaststampers to create this box. To fill the box, I used 10 Hershey Kisses and shredded paper.

Paper: Basic Black, Whisper White card stock, A Walk in the Park DSP, medium Window Sheet
Ink: Ruby Red, Riding Hood Red, Old Olive, Kiwi Kiss Classic ink, Black StazOn ink
Accessories: 1/16” circle punch, 1 ¾” circle punch, clear rhinestone brads, Whisper White taffeta ribbon, SNAIL adhesive, sticky strip, paper cutter, Stamp-a-ma-jig

Acetate Box

I have wanted to create a clear box for awhile now, and since we now sell window sheets, I decided to give it a try. I used the acetate box tutorial on Splitcoaststampers.

Paper: Pretty in Pink, Kiwi Kiss card stock, Raspberry Tart DSP
Accessories: Punches: Scallop edge, scallop circle, 1 3/8” circle, 1 ¼” circle, 1/16” circle, Crop-A-Dile, white Uni-Ball Signo Gel pen, Kiwi Kiss/Very Vanilla satin ribbon, Stampin’ Dimensionals, SNAIL adhesive, Sticky Strip, Craft & Paper scissors, Hershey’s mini bars

This box might look familiar to you if you view my posts. I created a scallop circle card for a sketch challenge recently. You can view that post here. I made the box to match one of the cards since both the card and box were gifts for my mother-in-law.

Here I photographed the set together:

The card looks huge compared to the box in this picture but I don’t think there is such a size difference in real life. If I had positioned the box in front of the card, the proportions might look more realistic. At least you can see that the box and card coordinate :)

Candy Cane Mouse Holder- video tutorial by Dawn Griffith

Stamp set: Sanded background stamp
Paper: Creamy Caramel, Pretty in Pink, Basic Black
Ink: Creamy Caramel
Accessories: White gel pen, Wide oval punch, Large oval punch, ¼” circle punch, ½” circle punch, hobby blade, small cutting mat, dimensionals, SNAIL adhesive, scissors, candy cane.

Note: I didn’t use Dawn’s template for the ears. Instead, I used the Wide Oval and Large Oval punches to create the ears.

These make pretty cute gifts and are quick to make. I plan to make the Frosty the Snowman card for all the families on my list who have children, and I will be giving a few people the ornament and box for Christmas to let them know I’m thinking of them.

This class* is available by mail for $14 (includes $5 shipping and handling). Everything will be cut and scored for you and instructions included. If you live locally, we’ll make other arrangements so you will not have to pay for S&H unless preferred.
*Please note that the glass ornament and the supplies for it will not be provided.
