Sketch Challenge Week 8

This is week 8 of the UDI sketch challenges. I was unable to participate last week but I’m back this week and ready for another challenge! Here is the sketch:

Here is the card I made:

Stamp set: Simply Said, Polka Dot background
Paper: Riding Hood Red and Pink Pirouette card stock, Bella Rose DSP
Ink: Riding Hood Red, Pink Pirouette classic ink
Accessories: Horizontal slot punch, 5/8” Chocolate Chip grosgrain ribbon, Dazzling Diamonds glitter, 2-way glue pen, SNAIL adhesive, sticky strip, Stamp-a-ma-jig, scissors, paper cutter.

I created this for a friend’s teenage daughter who is going through some health issues. This is a very simple sketch so I added the ribbon to fancy it up a bit. The Chocolate Chip ribbon reflected the flash of my camera so that’s why the color and texture of it looks a bit odd. I added Dazzling Diamonds glitter to the heart for added interest.

If you would like to participate in the sketch challenge, post a comment and link to your blog, or upload to your Splitcoast gallery using the keyword divasc6. Click here for more information about the challenge and to view the other Divas’ work.

Featured stamper of the week

I am pleased to introduce my third guest stamper, Evelyn H, who just happens to be my mother-in-law :) Evelyn has created a variety of crafts through the years but recently her main crafting focus has been paper crafting, primarily card making. Evelyn isn’t afraid to try new techniques no matter how tedious or difficult they might be. I love seeing each new project she creates as they are always a work of art. I will be featuring only a small sampling of those projects but hopefully they will be enough to prove my point ;)

I wish I could show you all of Evelyn’s fabulous projects but time is limited. Since she’s always making something new and even more beautiful each time, I’m sure you’ll see her creations on my blog again sometime :)

Evelyn, thanks so much for sharing your creative talents with us!

Scarecrow Stew

This is a project we made in our stamp class last month. To give as a gift, simply add cellophane wrap a tie with raffia. Or, instead of using the mug, put everything in a cellophane bag and add a stamped topper to the bag.

Designed by Michelle Hoffman
Stamp sets: Happy Blessings
Paper: Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White card stock
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa, More Mustard, Pumpkin Pie, Really Rust, Old Olive, Not Quite Navy classic ink, Black StazOn
Accessories: Small cello bag, circle punches: 1/16”, 1 ¼” , 1 3/8”, scallop circle punch, blender pen, SNAIL adhesive, dimensionals, scissors, paper cutter, raffia, pouch of apple cider, ½ cinnamon stick, candy corn, shredded and corrugated paper, mug, printed poem.

The scarecrow is stamped to just below the buttons on the bib of his overalls. Below the scarecrow is the scarecrow stew poem.

It reads:

Scarecrow Stew

Scarecrows watch over
as fall fills the air.
They love the smells
that are everywhere...

So they put them together
into this special stew.
Just add water and stir with
the stick they added too.

Now when chilly winds come
Sip your scarecrow stew,
and savor the taste of fall
as it warms you through!

I found the poem on CraftSayings.com by Shirley Thomas. Click here to bring you directly to the page with the Scarecrow Stew poem.

Stamped on the tag is” happy thanksgiving, happy fall, happy blessings to one and all.” It is the sentiment in the stamp set “Happy Blessings” found on page 8 of the Holiday Mini catalog.

I think I’m going to warm up some apple cider now :) Have fun stampin’ and creatin’!

Scallop edge punch projects

I am so happy that Stampin' Up! now carries the scallop edge punch. No more painstaking punching with a corner rounder punch! :)

Here are two projects I created about a month ago using the scallop edge punch. The second project, a chocolate bar holder, uses the same colors as the thank you card. I had to scan the chocolate bar holder because I didn't have my camera, so the colors are brighter and not as true as the picture of the thank you card. I immediately mailed the chocolate bar holder to someone, so I was unable to take a good picture of it. Sorry!

Designed by Michelle Hoffman
Stamp set: Upsy Daisy
Paper: Baja Breeze, Kiwi Kiss, Whisper White card stock, Urban Garden DSP
Ink: Kiwi Kiss, Baja Breeze Classic ink, Versamark
Accessories: 1/8” circle punch, scallop edge punch, Dazzling Diamonds glitter, heat & stick powder, SNAIL adhesive, Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, scissors, paper cutter.

Created by Michelle Hoffman
Stamp set: Itty Bitty Backgrounds
Paper: Kiwi Kiss, Whisper White card stock, Urban Garden DSP
Ink: Kiwi Kiss Classic Ink
Accessories: Scallop edge punch, “Love & Happiness” Rub-Ons (SAB 2008), Sticky Strip, SNAIL adhesive, paper cutter, Hershey’s chocolate bar.

I hope these projects inspired you. Have fun stampin' and creatin'!

Sketch Challenge Week 6

Sketch Challenge Week 6

Welcome to another Friday sketch challenge. The sketch we are to use is this one:

As soon as I saw the sketch, I knew I wanted to make a suspension card. A friend’s birthday is coming up this month, so I decided to create a birthday card-suspension card with the sketch. Sorry the following picture is dark. I was taking it at night and can’t seem to get the right light settings.

Created by Michelle Hoffman
Suspension card tutorial by Beate Johns
Stamp set: Party Hearty
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Regal Rose, Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White card stock, Sweet Always DSP
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Tempting Turquoise classic ink, Regal Rose, Chocolate Chip, Summer Sun Stampin’ write makers
Accessories: 1 ¾”, 1 3/8”, 1 ¼ ” circle punch, Dazzling Diamonds glitter, white string, 2-way glue pen, Stampin’ dimensional, SNAIL adhesive, sticky strip, scissors, paper cutter.

I added glitter to the pink icing on the cupcake, and glitter to the flames on the candles on the flip side of the suspension image. Glitter doesn’t photograph well, at least not with my camera.

If you would like to participate in the sketch challenge, post a comment and link to your blog, or upload to your Splitcoast gallery using the keyword divasc6. Click here for more information about the challenge and to view the other Divas’ work.
